Michael Heneka, M.D.
DIRECTOR, LCSB UNIVERSITY OF LUXEMBOURG
Dr. Heneka is a renowned neurologist and clinician-scientist with over 25 years of experience in studying neurodegenerative diseases. He currently serves as the Director of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) at the University of Luxembourg and Principal Investigator of the Neuroinflammation group (Heneka Lab). His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, ALS, and Parkinson's disease, particularly the role of the immune system and neuroinflammation. At the clinical level, he has established a neurodegenerative outpatient unit at both the University of Münster and the University of Bonn in Germany.
Throughout his career, Heneka has published over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has received several awards for his contributions to neurodegenerative research, including the Hans und Ilse Breuer Award for Alzheimer Research and the Christa Lorenz Award for ALS Research.
